Ravel Morrison Confesses He Used To Steal Rooney And Ferdinand’s Boots
Former Manchester United midfielder Ravel Morrison has admitted that he used to steal boots from Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney to feed his family.
The former England U-21 international came through the youth ranks of Manchester United and was regarded by Sir Alex Ferguson as the best player in the Old Trafford youth system.
Unfortunately, Morrison’s career could not quite get the lift off many anticipated and he left United with just three league cup appearances to his name before going on a nomadic career.
The 28-year-old, who recently played for ADO Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie, has also had spells at Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers, West Ham United, Lazio, Cardiff, Birmingham City, Ostersund and Mexican club Atlas.
Speaking to former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on the Rio Ferdinand’s Five podcast, Morrison said: “Obviously I was on a scholar’s wage, I was young.
“You used to get like £250 for a pair of boots. You take two pairs of boots, you get £500 and you go home and buy your family a Chinese or something.
“You guys used to get like 30 pairs of boots. I didn’t mean it to cause so much harm but when I used to see yours or [Wayne] Rooney’s deliveries, you’d get 20-30 pairs at a time, I was thinking one pair to put some food on the table at home, I didn’t think it would be a big problem but obviously now I know.”
