Osimhen Crowned 2023 African Footballer Of The Year
Nigeria and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has beaten Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi to win the 2023 CAF Footballer of the year award.
The 24-year-old was handed his award at a ceremony in Morocco on Monday night.
Osimhen is the first Nigerian to win the award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.
Osimhen's goals helped Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years last season.
Osimhen was named Serie A player of the year last week following a season in which he became the first African to emerge top scorer in the Italian top flight with 26 goals in 32 games.
Osimhen also earned a spot in the Serie A team of the year and finished in eighth position at the recent Ballon D'or awards.
