Napoli Sign Lozano From PSV
Italian Serie A outfit Napoli have completed the signing of Mexican star Hirving Lozano from Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven.
It is reported that Napoli have signed the pacey winger for a club-record fee worth €42 million, placing a release clause of €135 million.
After completing his move to the Naples based-club, Lozano becomes the most expensive Mexican in the history of the sport as his deal will outdo Wolves’ €38 million for signing Raul Jimenez permanently earlier this year.
Lozano attracted interest from top European clubs after starring for Mexico in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, scoring the only goal for the El Tri when they defeated Germany in Group F at the Luzhniki Stadium.
PSV signed Lozano from Pachuca in 2017 on a six-year deal after helping the Mexican side to a Clausura glory in 2016 as they won their sixth league title, and the 2016-17 Concacaf Champions League trophy.
Spending two years at the Philips Stadium, the 26-year-old scored 40 goals and 23 assists in 79 appearances across the two campaigns, impressing in the Champions League last term.
With Napoli looking to close the gap between them and champions Juventus, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have bolster their attacking department with the arrival of Lozano.
Having started the new Eredivisie season with PSV, the former Pachuca forward is in fine shape to feature for Gli Azzurri as they kick-off the new Serie A season with a game against Fiorentina on Saturday.
After missing out on the signing of James Rodriguez, Napoli have secured the services of the versatile forward to partner with captain Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon upfront.
