Nagelsmann Denies Links To Bayern Munich Manager’s Job

Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has been tipped to take over the Germany national team job after the Bavarians were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the quarterfinal stage by Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday.

Germany’s current manager Joachim Low will step down after this summer’s European championships.

Former Germany international Lothar Matthaus said on Tuesday that the German champions have already contacted Nagelsmann to take over at the Allianz Arena if Flick leaves.

"Munich have already chatted a bit with [Julian] Nagelsmann, including about financial matters," Matthaus told Sky Germany.

But Nagelsmann insists no such discussions have taken place between him and the Bayern Munich hierarchy as he is solely focused on his job at the Red Bull Arena.

"There were and there are no talks with FC Bayern," the 33-year-old told a news conference on Wednesday.

"I have no idea where Lothar got this information from. This of course also applies to my agents, there were no talks.

"I have not spoken to the club because there will be nothing to discuss. I still have a contract with RB until 2023."

Nagelsmann is one of the brightest young coaches in European football.

After cutting his managerial teeth at Hoffenheim at the age of 28 in 2016, Nagelsmann took over RB Leipzig in the summer of 2019 and led them to the Champions League semi-finals last season.
