Muller Questions Salah Omission From FIFPro World Eleven

At the FIFA awards last month, Salah came third in the Men’s player of the year award behind Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi but was conspicuously missing from the best eleven.

The likes of Messi, Lewandowski, Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo were selected for the forward positions while N’golo Kante, Jorginho, Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Leonardo Bonucci, David Alaba and Gianluigi Donnarumma completed the starting eleven.

“It’s always difficult to choose fairly these teams because everyone has slightly different views,” Muller told MBC Masr TV [ via Filgoal].

"Mohamed Salah is in great form at the moment and is appreciated by everyone. It's disappointing that he was not chosen in the World XI, and this may be due to the Euros being played last summer.

"The Euros are of great importance and of course you will find players from Italy [the champions] in the formation.

“It’s a combination of individual and collective success. Usually 20 players can be selected and only four or five of them are worthy. But Salah deserved to be in the formation."

Salah is enjoying another strong season for Liverpool, with 25 goals struck already in 30 appearances across all competitions.

He recently led Egypt to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations but lost out to Senegal.
