Michail Antonio Faces Lengthy Spell On The Sidelines
West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is set to be on the sidelines for three to six weeks.
The 29-year-old's promising start to the season has been curtailed by a hamstring injury.
Antonio was an integral figure in the side’s Carabao game against Newport County on Tuesday but his minutes in the game was cut short after suffering an injury in the 6th minute.
The former Nottingham Forest winger is expected to have a scan on Thursday to reveal the extent of the injury.
Having sustained the injury, Antonio signalled the West Ham medical staff to be substituted as he hobbled off the pitch with the help of the medical team.
In thirty-three Premier League appearances for West Ham last season, Antonio scored 6 goals with four assists but has featured just thrice in the new season.
The Hammers recruited Antonio from Championship club Nottingham Forest for a reported £7 million on a four-year contract with an option for a further two years.
Since arriving at the London Stadium, the versatile midfielder has become a mainstay for Manuel Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Playing an integral role for the side last season saw West Ham finish 10th on the League log as they look to qualify for Europa League this season after bolstering their squad with new signings.
West Ham, after recording first win of the season against Watford will host newly-promoted Norwich City on Saturday.
