Suarez Still Hurt By Manner Of Barcelona Exit
Luis Suarez says he is still hurt by the way he was forced out of Barcelona.
Suarez and his Atletico Madrid side will come face-to-face with Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in La Liga on Saturday.
The 34-year-old Uruguay international left Barcelona for Atletico Madrid in acrimonious circumstances last summer, ending a six-year stay at the Camp Nou that brought 13 trophies and made him the Blaugrana’s third all-time top scorer with 198 goals in 283 games.
Suarez proved he could still perform at the highest level, firing Atletico to the title with 21 goals in 32 La Liga games.
Ahead of Saturday’s encounter, Suarez told RTVE of his final days at the Camp Nou: "Yes [I believe in karma].
"Karma, destiny, that they despise you, because I have not forgotten that last year in pre-season, [Barcelona] sent me to train on my own to make me angry, and I was a professional [despite that], as the coach said.
"I was a professional and I would train every day without pouting because that is what I have to do, because I am like that and fate will have its own end."
Barcelona are currently embroiled in turmoil on and off the pitch, and Suarez says he is hurt by their situation.
"The situation the club is experiencing hurts, having been there for many years, for having friends there, but the club knows that things are not being done as they should be done," Suarez added.
"Hopefully, it will be a bump from which the club returns to where it was because there is a lot of future within the club."
