Juventus Announce Higuain Exit Ahead Of Inter Miami Move
Italian champions Juventus have announced the exit of Gonzalo Higuain, who is set to join Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer.
Higuain terminated his contract with Juventus, which still had one year to run, after he was deemed surplus to requirement by new manager Andrea Pirlo.
The Bianconeri are set to sign AS Roma forward Edin Dzeko as a replacement for the former Argentina international.
Higuain joined Juventus from Napoli in the summer of 2016 and he won three Scudetto titles and the Coppa Italia on two occasions.
His involvement in the first team picture at Turin dwindled in the last two seasons as the former Real Madrid striker spent the 2018/2019 season on loan spells at AC Milan and Chelsea.
Higuain played a back-up role on his return to Juventus last season as he made most of his 32 Serie A appearances from the bench and scored eight goals.
Juventus’ parting message for Higuain read: "There were many battles together, many goals scored, with many often decisive. Now the paths of Gonzalo Higuain and Juventus go their separate ways: Pipita, after winning his third Scudetto, has officially taken off his Black and White shirt.
"Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces the mutual termination of the contract with the player Gonzalo Gerardo Higuain. This operation generates a negative economic effect of approximately € 18.3 million on the 2019/2020 financial year due to the residual value write-down of the registration rights of the player.
Higuain played 149 games in total for Juventus and scored 66 goals.
He will become the second Juventus player after Blaise Matuidi to join Inter Miami this summer if he completes the move.
