Inter Miami Complete Higuain Signing After Juventus Exit
Major League Soccer side Inter Miami have completed the signing of Gonzalo Higuain after the Argentine striker terminated his contract with Juventus by mutual consent.
Higuain’s four-year relationship with the Old Lady came to an end after new boss Andrea Pirlo deemed him surplus to requirement.
The 32-year-old joined Juventus from Napoli in the summer of 2016 and he won three Scudetto titles and the Coppa Italia on two occasions.
His involvement in the first team picture at Turin dwindled in the last two seasons as the former Real Madrid striker spent the 2018/2019 season on loan spells at AC Milan and Chelsea.
Higuain played a back-up role on his return to Juventus last season as he made most of his 32 Serie A appearances from the bench and scored eight goals.
The former Argentina international is the second Juventus player to join Inter Miami this summer after Blaise Matuidi.
"I feel good; I feel whole as a player," Higuain told Inter Miami's official website.
"I'm motivated to try a new league and help the team grow. Individually, my goal is to demonstrate that I can contribute and continue playing great football here, and I hope I can achieve that because I have all the tools necessary to succeed.
"Inter Miami is a team in construction but there is already a good base to reach important goals.
"I think it will be a beautiful experience in my life. It's what I was looking for; a new experience, a new league and a beautiful city. I'm really happy to be here and that it's official. My goal is to try to transmit all the experience I acquired in Europe and to help the team grow."
Inter Miami are currently bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference with just two wins from 11 games.
