Haaland Voted Football Writers' Association Player Of The Year

The Norwegian international has enjoyed a remarkable debut season in English football, scoring 51 goals across all competitions.

Haaland's goal tally includes 35 in the Premier League, which is a record in the competition's history.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward saw off competition from Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard to land the award.

The FWA has said on the organisation’s official website: “Haaland won by a huge margin after his sensational debut season in England, scoring 51 goals so far for Manchester City as they aim for a remarkable treble. For a while he was neck and neck with Bukayo Saka in the voting among our 800 or so members, but eventually won by a landslide.

"To win the Football Writers’ award in my first season in English football is an honour," Haaland said. 

"I try every single day to be the best I can be, and to be recognised like this means a lot to me."

Haaland's goals have helped Man City's bid to land a treble this season.

Pep Guardiola's side have reached the FA Cup final, where they will take on Manchester United, lead the Premier League and are in a good position to reach the Champions League final at Real Madrid's expense.

Haaland will receive his award at a special ceremony in London on May 25.
