Spurs will take in a trip to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The North London side made a fast start to the season by going unbeaten in their first 10 league matches but a spate of injuries has set them back recently and they are on a run of three straight defeats.

But not for the first time, Guardiola has been impressed by what he has seen from a side managed by Postecoglou.

Manchester City beat a Yokohama F. Marinos side managed by Postecoglou in a pre-season friendly in 2019 and that was when Guardiola started to take notice.

Guardiola said: “When we played in Japan I saw some clips before we started. I said, ‘wow, there are things that I like’.

“I said to the players we’re going to face a good team with challenges, intense build-up, intense and high pressing.

“It was the first time I met him and since then I’ve followed him and seen how good he has done in Glasgow with Celtic, winning trebles and winning a lot of games and now look, in a short time he is there.”

The Catalan also talked about Postecoglou improving Spurs in a short period: "He is already there, in a short time. Even in the games they didn't win lately. I am impressed at many things they do - the chances they create, and aggression in all departments.

"He came here with nothing and within a few months already you can recognise Spurs as his team. Every team that plays with desire and determination comes from the manager. He has done this in the past in Japan and in Glasgow with Celtic.

"He makes football a better place - a person like Ange. I enjoy watching them play and the approach they have. The impact he has made has been quick and really good."
