Gakpo Promises To Improve After 'Sloppy' Liverpool Debut
Cody Gakpo admits his Liverpool debut did not exactly go according to plan but is confident of improving in the coming weeks.
Gakpo made his Liverpool bow at Anfield since his transfer from PSV Eindhoven at the start of this month against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The game ended 2-2, with Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah striking for Jurgen Klopp's side.
Gakpo lasted 83 minutes before making way for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain.
The two sides will have to contest a replay to see who advances to the fourth round of the world's oldest club competition.
"[It was a] really great atmosphere," Gakpo told the club's official website as he reflected on his performance.
"For my own game, I think I showed some good moments.
"[But I also had] some sloppy moments. I can still improve on those points and keep working and try to help the team as much as I can.
"Of course, you learn the most when you're playing games, so I'm looking forward [to more]."
He added: "I think we played, in phases, really good football.
"We didn't score enough, so that's a pity. But I think we showed what we could do. We can still improve on some points, [so] let's work on that.
"I think we showed real team spirited, so that's good. We have to go there [to Molineux] with great determination and just go for the win."
