Fabregas Appointed Interim Manager Of Serie B side Como
Former Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been placed in interim charge of Serie B side Como.
Como parted company with manager Moreno Longo on Monday and wasted little time in getting someone in charge.
Former Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder Fabregas is the one they have settled on, stepping up from his role as under-19 manager at Como.
The 36-year-old retired from football in July after spending the final season of his professional career with Como.
Como are currently sixth on the Serie B standings.
The club confirmed Fabregas' appointment via an official statement on Monday, which read: "The paths separated between Como 1907 and Moreno Longo. The search for a new coach begins immediately, with Cesc Fàbregas and the coaching staff taking on the duties on an interim basis.
"After several months of strategic planning, the Como 1907 board decided that dynamic change was in the club's best interest. Longo joined Como in September 2022 and helped the team avoid relegation, finishing in 13th place last season.
"Cesc Fàbregas, who currently coaches the Primavera del Como 1907, will have his first training session on Wednesday morning."
Fabregas has the second most assists in Premier League history with 111.
He won the English top flight twice with Chelsea and a La Liga title with Barcelona.
Fabregas earned 110 caps for Spain, and was part of the sides that won two European Championships and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
