De Bruyne And Aguero Back In Training Ahead Of Carabao Cup Final
Manchester City have welcomed Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne back to training ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.
City’s record goalscorer Aguero, who will leave the club at the end of the season, has missed the last four games because of a calf problem.
Last season’s PFA player of the year, De Bruyne, was substituted early in the second half with an ankle issue in last weekend’s 1-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea and missed the midweek victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League as a result.
But manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that both players have returned to training and could be in contention to play a part as City attempt to win the Carabao Cup for a fourth straight season.
"Both Sergio and Kevin trained today," Guardiola told his pre-match press conference. "Today was [Sergio's] first training session for two weeks. Tomorrow is the last training session and then we’ll decide.
"The Champions League is close and the Premier League is not over, they are more important and we have an eye on them.
"Tottenham are looking at qualifying and need a title, their commitment will be tough. They have outstanding quality. Of course it’s a final and once we are there, everyone wants to win it – and we are not an exception."
