Chelsea Hit Middlesbrough For Six To Book Carabao Cup Final Spot
Chelsea booked their place in the Carabao Cup final following a 6-1 rout of Championship side Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
The Blues prevailed 6-2 on aggregate, having lost the 1st leg 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium a fortnight ago.
It gives manager Mauricio Pochettino the chance to win a major trophy in his first season in charge, with a date with either Liverpool or Fulham to come at Wembley next month.
This tie was done and dusted in the first half after Chelsea raced into a four-goal lead.
A 15th minute own goal by Middlesbrough captain Jonathan Howson set the Blues on their way before Enzo Fernandez, Axel Disasi and Cole Palmer all got their names on the score sheet.
Palmer scored another after the break and substitute Noni Madueke put the finishing touches on a resounding scoreline.
The away fans finally got something to cheer about when Morgan Rogers nicked a consolation with two minutes to play.
