Barzagli Returns To Juventus As Assistant Technical collaborator

Announcing his retirement at the start of the summer, Barzagli went on to study managerial course at Italy’s legendary Coverciano training centre after his contract with the Bianconeri expired.

Juventus confirmed the development with a statement on the club’s official website which read;

“A few months have passed since we last saw Andrea Barzagli. On 19 May 2019, before swinging aloft His eighth consecutive Scudetto trophy to the sky,

“But it was only good for him as a football player, a simple goodbye, between us. Now, in fact, Andrea has officially returned to work with Juventus. 

“More precisely, 'Barza' will be a Technical Collaborator of the First Team, and this time, on the sidelines of the football field.”  

Enjoying a scintillating eight-year spell with the Old Lady, the 38-year-old made 281 appearances, winning eight straight Scudettos and reaching two Champions League Finals.

Barzagli also had a blissful moment with the Italian national team when they won the 2006 World Cup in Germany, defeating France 5-3 on penalties in the final after a 1-1 draw.

Juventus recruited Barzagli from German side Wolfsburg for a reported £300,000 in 2011 with his arrival solidifying Juventus’ defence which was difficult to break by most renowned centre-forwards.

Having been ushered into his new post at Juventus, Barzagli is expected to begin his duties as early as tomorrow.
