Azpilicueta: ‘Hungry’ Abraham Has The Potential To Be The Best
Cesar Azpilicueta believes Chelsea team-mate and academy graduate Tammy Abraham has what it takes to be one of the top players in the world.
Abraham picked up an injury last week in the Blues’ 2-2 draw against La Liga outfit Valencia in the Champions League.
The England International was not available for Chelsea in their game against West Ham United on Saturday, which shockingly ended 1-0 in favour of the Hammers.
The former Swansea striker was back in the lineup against the Villains, and it took the 22-year-old only 24 minutes to announce his return from injury with a goal.
Aston Villa got the equalizer through a combination from their two Egyptians; Mahmoud Hassan scrambled the ball over the line from Ahmed Elmohamady’s cross.
Chelsea restored the lead in the opening minutes of the second half through another academy graduate Mason Mount.
Azpilicueta was happy with Abraham’s overall performance and has insisted that the youngster deserves every praise.
"If Tammy scores the most goals, then the team will do better as well,” the Chelsea captain told the club’s website.
“It is something we are looking at as a team and I am confident that he can get many more goals because of the way he is working and improving since he started pre-season."
"It is amazing and he has the potential to go even higher. We know we are still in December with a lot of games, but with his passion and hunger, he is capable of getting to the top, for sure."
“He is second after Vardy. Vardy is doing an amazing season with a lot of goals and he is behind him, so if he is there it is because he deserves to be.
“He is scoring goals and not only is he scoring goals, he is playing for the team."
“Recovering the ball and he made a tackle in our own half that was an amazing effort for him."
