Van Dijk: Liverpool Are Hungry For More Success
By Joshua Walters
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has revealed the Reds will fight for more success after winning the Champions League.
Despite a scintillating performance by the side in the Premier League, Liverpool were pipped to the Premier League title by just a point by Manchester City.
Missing out on the Premier League trophy ended Liverpool’s quest to win the title for the first time in 29 years.
But Liverpool did not end the season without a trophy as their impressive run under German trainer Jurgen Klopp rewarded them with a Champions League triumph having defeated their domestic rivals Tottenham Hotspurs 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Spain on June 1.
Van Dijk who was part of the Netherlands squad that lost to Portugal in the UEFA Nations League final believes Liverpool are hungry for more success in the 2019/20 season.
"I've had a few days to reflect now at the end of what's been an unbelievable season," Van Dijk wrote on Instagram.
"We achieved great things this season at Liverpool as a team and I feel proud to be part of such an incredible club with this group of players. To be European champions is a dream come true!.
"We are all now hungry for more success and will continue to give all we can to achieve that. I'm also excited about the future with the national team and we will look to build on the promising season we've just had.
"Thank you for all of your support over the last few months and I'll see you after a break ready to go again!"
