Neymar has been ruled out of action for up to a month as a result of the injury and that means he is also a huge doubt for the return leg at the Parc des Princes on March 10.

Having set up the winning goal for Moise Kean, the 29-year-old lasted just over an hour before being replaced by Kylian Mbappe as PSG run out 1-0 winners over Caen.

PSG confirmed the extent of the Brazil international’s injury with a statement on their website which read: Neymar suffered a lesion to the left adductor on Wednesday evening."

"After analysis of clinical exams and scans, it is expected that he'll be out for around four weeks depending on the evolution of the injury."

This is not the first time Neymar has suffered a serious injury in his PSG career just around the Champions League round of 16 stage.

In his debut campaign in France, he was missing in action with an ankle injury just as the knockout stage kicked into gear against Real Madrid and he also sat out the round of 16 clashes against Manchester United in the 2018/2019 season.

Neymar has scored 12 goals in 17 games for PSG this season.
