Tottenham's Dembele Moves To Guangzhou R&F

Tottenham Hotspurs have completed the sale of midfielder Mousa Dembele to Chinese club, Guangzhou R&F.

The 31-year-old Belgian moves from the Premier League to the Chinese Super League with a sum that could rise to £11m  with just six months remaining on his contract.

The Belgian central midfielder was linked with both Beijing Guoan and Guangzhou Evergrande.

A supporter of Guangzhou R&F posted an image on Twitter showing Dembele in a pose with the club's scarf in front of their badge.

The deal has now been confirmed by Spurs as Dembele has been unveiled as a Guangzhou R&F player, thus ending his six-and-a-half season stay with Spurs.

Reports in England suggest that Tottenham sanctioned Dembele's move in order to prevent losing him for free in the summer.

Dembele has been prone to injuries including chronic foot problems over the past years, and reports say that he was keen to leave the Premier League to a less physical league to prolong his career a bit further as he itches close to the twilight of his career.

Dembele’s last appearance for the club was the 3-2 victory at Wolves on November 3 when he lasted just seven minutes before succumbing to an ankle injury which has kept him on the sidelines ever since.

The left-footed player returned to training but was excluded from matchday squads against Tranmere Rovers, Chelsea and Manchester United with Mauricio Pochettino insisting then that he was not match fit.
