Suarez Suffers Two Weeks Injury Blow
By Joshua Walters
Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is set to be on the sidelines for at least two weeks after suffering a knee injury in the Blaugrana's 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
Ernesto Valverde's men rallied from behind to grab a point from the Wanda Metropolitano, courtesy Ousmane Dembele’s stoppage-time equaliser.
Suarez picked up an injury in the right knee, but lasted the full duration of the match day-thirteen La Liga game, and Barcelona have confirmed the Uruguayan will require a stem-cell treatment to correct the defect.
Suarez has subsequently been left out of Barcelona’s traveling party to Holland ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League match day-5 tie against PSV.
The club reveals that the striker requires not less than two weeks to recuperate, and his injury adds to Barcelona’s injury list, which already has first team players, Rafinha Alcantara, Sergi Roberto, Thomas Vermaelen, Sergi Samper, and goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.
Barcelona are already through to the knockout stage of the Champions League, and the absence of the marksman will pose no problems as results do not matter much to them currently.
Suarez has played in all the Champions League games this season but is yet to score in the competition despite having nine goals and four assists in 13 La Liga games this term.
