Scholes Charged With Alleged Betting Breaches

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been charged by the Football Association(FA) for alleged betting breaches.
Scholes allegedly placed 140 bets on football matches between August 17, 2015 and January 12, 2019.
Scholes,44, spent his entire career at Manchester United and moved into punditry when he retired from playing in 2013.
The former England international, who made 66 appearances for the Three Lions, co-owns National League side Salford City with former Manchester United teammates Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville.
FA rules prohibits stakeholders involved in the game from placing bets on football games either in their own country or different countries.
“Paul Scholes has been charged with misconduct in relation to The FA’s Betting Rules,” a statement by the FA read.
“It is alleged he placed 140 bets on football matches, contrary to FA Rule E8, between 17 August 2015 and 12 January 2019.”
“He has until 26 April 2019 to respond to the charge.”
Scholes recently resigned as manager of League Two side Oldham Athletic after a month at the helm, although the period for which he is being charged for placing the bets does not cover his time in the dugout.
Paul Scholes is widely considered as one of the most gifted midfielders of his generation, making a total of 720 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United and winning 11 Premier League titles in a one-club career.
