Sarri Eyes Europa Cup Glory
By Harry Morgan
Maurizio Sarri is upbeat about the chances of Chelsea winning the 2018/19 Europa League as he describes the trophy as ‘one of his targets’.
The Longdon-based club was placed in Group L alongside PAOK Salonika, BATE Borisov and MOL Vidi of Hungary.
Despite The Blues winning the competition in 2012, they, like Sarri, who joined the club from Napoli this season, are more used to playing in the Champions League which the club won in 2012.
Chelsea placing fifth last season means they have to settle for Europe’s second tier club football competition, and the Chelsea manager insists he has eyes on every trophy he competes in, including the Europa Cup
“I want to win everything if I can,” he said. "For me, it's a pleasure to play in Europe. It's a pleasure to play in the Europa League. It's one of our targets.”
