Salah Ready To Sacrifice Champions League For EPL Glory
By Max Wise
Mohamed Salah says he is ready to sacrifice his dream of winning the UEFA Champions League in a bid to help Liverpool secure their first Premier League title in 29 years.
Liverpool had led the way for much of the campaign but a run of four draws in their last seven Premier League games has seen Manchester City overtake them in the race for the title.
With just eight games left to play in the league, Liverpool cannot afford any more slip ups, but the Reds turn their attention to the midweek Champions League clash against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena following a goalless draw at Anfield in the first leg.
Salah’s hopes of winning the Champions League ended in disappointment last season, as a shoulder injury in the final cut short his involvement before Liverpool eventually lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.
However, with Liverpool coming close to a first Premier League title in almost three decades, Salah would be happy to deliver a trophy the Anfield faithful have craved so long.
Salah said: "I will be honest with you, the most prestigious competition for me is the Champions League.
"But the dream for the entire city and the club is the league.
"So, I am happy to sacrifice my dream for their dream but if we win both that would great and this is what we are trying to do."
The reigning African footballer of the year has played 30 times in the league this season, scoring 17 goals.
