Phil Jones has committed his future to Manchester United with a new deal, Manchester United announced on Friday.
The 26-year-old defender has penned a new four-year deal with the club and will remain at the Old Trafford outfit at least until 2023.
Jones’ current contract with the Red Devils was expected to expire at the end of the season, but the club has tied him down with the new contract extension on Friday.
The English defender, who ran out of favour with former manager Jose Mourinho, has seen his presence in the first team under new caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Phil Jones has played 16 games in all competition for the club this season and has spent eight years in the club, making him one of the long-serving players in the squad.
The former Blackburn defender was delighted in signing the new deal and expressed his readiness to help the club achieve its ambition after signing the dotted lines.
“I am delighted to have signed a new contract," he said. "Manchester United has been a big part of my life for eight years and I love everything about this club."
"I am excited about the challenges that lie ahead of us as we prepare for a very busy period in the season. I would like to thank Ole and the coaching staff for their continued support in my development."
Jones joined Manchester United from Blackburn Rovers in 2011 for a fee around £16.5 million.
