Paul Pogba must man up at Manchester united
By Harry Morgan
The personality clash between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho continues to lead the headlines at Manchester United after the World Cup winner claimed last week that he would be sanctioned should he reveal what he knows about the club.
Though Mourinho said at the pre-match conference of his side's visit to Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. that he has 'not been so happy with Pogba like I am now', many football followers still believe the claim is far from the reality.
The feud is real because Mourinho has, on several occasions, openly criticised Pogba's inconsistent performances and lack of concentration on the game.
Pogba is a jolly fellow, and he loves attraction. That explains why he changed his hairstyle more than 20 times last season and is currently one of the loudest athletes on social media.
He plays in, arguably, the most popular league in the world, and also for a club that prides itself as the most popular on the universe.
Man United re-signed Pogba from Juventus, where they first sold him to, for a world-record fee of £89m, and also put him on a £290, 000 a week wage. This alone is enough to put the 23-year old footballer on the spotlight, and his performance under strict scrutiny.
Fame and fortune come with a heavy price, and in this era where the media often criticise and praise without cause, the tendency in Pogba being wrongfully judged on the field of play is always high.
It is fair to suggest that Pogba had a divided attention at Man United last season. He concentrated so much on his hairstyles and physical looks than the games. Mourinho was right to complain, especially as Pogba underperformed.
One does not enjoy a huge attraction anywhere like is there at the World Cup. However, Pogba used a moderate down-shaved haircut. He never dyed the hair throughout the tournament.
He performed better at the World Cup than he did for United, and Mourinho was right to say that 'Pogba performed better because he thought about nothing but football in Russia. This means the Manager believes that Pogba spends more time on other things than football at Man United.
If Didier Deschamps was able to get the best out of Pogba by making him concentrate on the game than his looks, then it is not out of place for Mourinho to ask for same from the player. If Pogba obeyed Deschamps, then he should do the same for Mourinho.
Pogba can be the best for United, but he must grow up and take responsibility. Currently, Man United would rather sack Mourinho than sell Pogba, but the player should focus more on the game to get to his full potential.
