Chelsea beat Arsenal 3-2 in a pulsating game at the Stanford Bridge to make it two wins in the two opening games of the 2018/19 English Premier League campaign.

Pedro fed on Marcus Alonso's pass to shoot The Blues into the lead in the 9th minute with a shot from inside the penalty box to the bottom right corner of the post, and Alvaro Morata doubled up the lead for the hosts in the 20th minute with a left footed shot into the center of the post.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan pulled one back for Arsenal with a left footed shot from outside the box, and Alex Owobi drew parity for the visitors 4 minutes later with a right footed shot from the center of the box.

The Gunners, who lost 2-0 at home to Manchester City in the opening fixture, looked to be ending the game with a point when Marcos Alonso drew a dagger through their chest with the winner 9 minutes to time by tapping in Eden Hazard's in-swinger from inside the six-yard box.

It was Chelsea's new Manager, Maurizio Sarri's, first home game and the Italian earned a win while extending the woes for his opposite number and Arsenal's new Manager, Unai Emery, who left with the record of leading the Gunners to their first back-to-back defeat in two opening games in 26 years.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang registered Arsenal's intent in the first minute by forcing a good save from Kepa Arizabalaga in the 1st minute, and David Luiz responded for the hosts with a thunderbolt that missed the post narrowly.

Marcos Alonso ended his run down the left flank with a cross which Pedro connected into the net. Aubameyang with an opportunity to draw level in the 17th minute shot wide before Mkhitaryan ended a good control of the ball with an eye-catching shot that travelled straight bottom corner.

Alex Iwobi made it 2 all before the break, and N'Golo Kante failed to put his side in the lead in the 57th minute by hitting a shot into the body of Petr Cech.
