Mourinho Hails Zidane's Return To Real Madrid
By Joshua Walters
Jose Mourinho has endorsed the second coming of Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid manager, describing the reunion as 'perfect' for both parties.
Zidane was reappointed as manager of the European Champions following his resignation 10 months ago after leading the side to their third straight European crown.
Zidane will be Real Madrid's third manager of the campaign with Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari already shown the exit after some unconvincing stints in the dugout.
Solari's exit was sparked after losing twice to Barcelona in the space of three days, and also suffering defeat at the hands of Ajax Amsterdam to suffer elimination from the Champions League.
Mourinho managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013,leading the club to a LaLiga title and a Copa del Rey trophy, but left the club in acrimonious circumstances after falling out with senior players like the great Iker Casillas.
Mourinho, who was recently dismissed as Manchester United manager, was also linked with the Real Madrid job but reports indicate that senior players at the club opposed his appointment.
"I think it's perfect with the fantastic things he's done in recent years," Mourinho told El Chiringuito, as reported in Spanish media outlet Marca.
"It's perfect for me, perfect for Madrid, perfect for him.
"It's a great opportunity to show how good he is, especially now with a new project. I think he's great."
Zidane's first game in charge of Real Madrid will be on Sunday when the White Angels host relegation-threatened Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu.
