Milner Urges Liverpool To Bounce Back From Defeats

By Joshua Walters

James Milner has urged Liverpool to bounce back quickly from their back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League and FA Cup respectively.

Liverpool recorded 21 Premier League unbeaten run before their defending champions Manchester City burst their bubble last Thursday with a 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium on matchday 21.

The Reds’ aim of getting back to winning ways crashed four days later when Wolves forced them into another defeat with a 2-1 win in a FA Cup third round tie at the Molineux Stadium on Monday.

Liverpool are still atop the league table, but with just four points above second-placed Manchester City while the defeat to Wolves means that they are out of the 2019 FA Cup.

Milner, who has been very instrumental in Liverpool’s course in recent seasons, sees the two defeats as normal in the sports and says the side must see them as a wake-up call and bounce back with the visit to Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

"We have to make sure we bounce back and look at where we can get better".

"You're never going to go a full season without having blips. I think the start of this season we weren't playing our best, but we were getting results."

"Back-to-back defeats now, which really isn't good enough for us, but you have blips in a season. It's about how you respond."

"I think you've seen the character in the squad in the last few years and the players we have to know we will bounce back.”
