Arsenal's Mesut Ozil Stars In Comeback Win Over Leicester
By Joshua Walters
Mesut Ozil showed he still has what it takes as he produced one of the best midfield displays in the Premier League this season to help Arsenal beat Leicester 3-1 on Monday.
Claude Puel’s Foxes took the lead in the 31st minute, through a Hector Bellerin own goal, to grace a superior first-half performance.
Arsenal were, however, a different disposition in the second half with Ozil orchestrating things in the midfield, and they leveled up in the 45th minute through Mesut Ozil ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s double in the 63rd and 66th minutes.
It is Arsenal’s 10th consecutive win in all competitions. It keeps them in the 4th position on the Premier League log with 21 points and condemns Leicester City to the 11th position with 12 points.
Leicester City got off to a good start and could have scored in the 3rd minute but for Kelechi Iheanacho, who headed a perfect cross over the bar, before Bernd Leno stopped Harry Maguire’s header from going into the top corner of the right post.
Hector Bellerin scored an unlucky own goal after he deflected a shot into his net, and Arsenal responded in the 53rd minute with Hector Bellerin playing a neat ball into the path of Mesut Ozil, who made room for a shot and sent in a low drive that bounced in off the left post.
Aubameyang extended the lead in the 63rd minute by finishing another Hector Bellerin assist with an easy hit into the net, before wrapping up the points three minutes later with a simple tap into Mesut Ozil’s through ball.
