Mbappe Having Sleepless Nights Over Man Utd Defeat

Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he has not been able to sleep since Manchester United knocked Paris Saint-Germain out of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Mbappe was one of the scorers when the French champions beat the Red Devils 2-0 at Old Trafford in the first leg, but was powerless to prevent Manchester United from engineering a second leg fightback to win 3-1 on the night and go through on the away goals rule.

"I'm stunned. We'd worked so hard to get to this point," Mbappe told French TV channel TF1.

"I haven't been able to sleep. I'm pretty sure it's been the same with everyone.

"Honestly, it's hard to give it too much thought because the Champions League was our goal. The stadium was full for a magnificent occasion, we spoiled the party. We didn't want to ruin it but in the end, we did."

Paris Saint Germain have never progressed beyond the quarterfinal stage of the Champions League and last Wednesday’s exit opened a new chapter of disappointment for the French champions despite being in pole position to qualify.

Paris Saint Germain famously failed to negotiate past the round of 16 in the 2016/2017 Champions League when they lost 6-1 to Barcelona in the second leg despite winning the first encounter 4-0 at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappe has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but the 20-year-old French world cup winner insists Paris Saint-Germain’s failings in Europe will not force him to leave.

"Yes, I think I will be there. I can even say that I am sure," he said.

"After what happened, even before, it was decided. With all the problems that will come after this elimination, I don't want to add anything with my personal situation.

"There is no point in worrying about my personal situation. That's clear."

PSG are almost certain of retaining their French league crown, sitting 14 points clear of second-placed Lille, with two games in hand.
