Manchester United stumbled at home on Saturday as a well-drilled Wolverhampton Wanderers became the first side to hold Jose Mourinho's men to a draw at Old Trafford.

It was the second time the Red Devils were dropping points at home after their 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspurs on match day-three, but a two consecutive winning streak was ended by Nuno Espírito Santo’s men.

Mourinho made four changes to his starting-XI in the 3-0 win in the Champions League match in Switzerland against Young Boys on Wednesday by benching Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot as Nemanja Matic missed the game due to suspension.

Raúl Jiménez opened the game with a right-footed effort in the 7th minute, which David De Gea saved beautifully, Fred responded for Manchester United in the 12th minute with a stray shot, before Ryan Bennett headed João Moutinho’s corner kick over the bar.

Willy Boly forced a reflex save from De Gea with a close-range header in the 16th minute, few seconds before the Spaniard saved Matt Doherty’s rebound header from traveling through the centre of the box.

Luke Shaw released Alex Sachez, whose cross into the penalty box was headed out by Neves. Pogba intercepted the ball just outside the penalty line and tapped it to Fred, who powered a right footed shot into the bottom left corner to register his first Manchester United goal and the Red Devils first goal of the day.

Shaw was shown the yellow card in the 40th minute for a bad foul on Matthew Doherty, and Rui Patricio stopped Fred from increasing the tally two minutes into stoppage time when he dived to palm the Brazilian’s free-kick into the upright and out of play.

Joao Moutinho drew level for the visitors in the 53rd minute. Raul Jimenez spotted Jonny in the penalty box and provided him with a nice pass. The midfielder set up Joao Moutinho who curled a first-time shot into the top left corner.

Sensing danger, Jose Mourinho sat out to give his side more bite up front and made two quick changes in the 63rd minute by replacing Fed and Sanchez for Anthony Martial and Juan Matta respectively, Hélder Costa welcomed the pair with a shot that missed the crossbar narrowly.

De Gea saved Diogo Jota left footed shot on a dive in the 67th minute, Jesse Lingard right footed shot from outside the box in the 69th minute was saved, Rui Patricio produced a crucial save to deny a close-range header from Marouane Fellaini a minute later, three minutes before Mourinho replaced Jesse Lingard with Andreas Pereira.

The Brazilian smashed a mid-range free-kick into the human wall in the 87th minute, Morgan Gibbs-White replaced Diogo Jota in the 88th minute, a minute before De Gea used his leg to stop Adama Traore’s close-range shot from going in.
