Lukaku Set To Join Inter Milan After Man United Permission
By Joshua Walters
A report in the Sun says that Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku flew back to Manchester from his vacation in the USA on Wednesday to sit with the club over his future.
The aftermath of the talk was that, the Old Trafford club have given the Belgian striker the green light to leave the side if the Serie A club fulfill their request of £75 million for his services.
Manchester United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward is ready to consider low offers but will not also ignore a player-plus-cash deal as they have defender Milan Skriniar and last season’s contract rebel Ivan Perisic on their wish list.
What is said to be delaying Lukaku’s move to Inter Milan is his wage demands of £225,000 per week.
Antonio Conte is set to lead the club next season after the San Siro outfit announced on Thursday morning that they have parted ways with Luciano Spalletti after two seasons.
Though Inter Milan are the favourites to land the bulky striker in the Serie A, their domestic rivals Juventus are also said to be monitoring the situation of the player.
Lukaku, whose contract with Manchester United is expected to expire in June 2022, recorded 12 Premier League goals in 32 appearances while his nine Champions League games yielded two goals in the 2018/19 season.
The Red Devils recruited Lukaku from Everton in 2017 for an undisclosed fee which was reported to be worth an initial £75 million, plus £15 million in add-ons having signed a five-year contract with the option of a further year.
