Lovren Warns Barcelona Of Liverpool Revival
By Joshua Walters
Dejan Lovren has warned Barcelona that football’s unpredictability means Liverpool are still in with a chance of qualifying for the final of the UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool will host the Spanish champions at Anfield on Tuesday, trailing 3-0 from last week’s semi-final first leg, after goals from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi gave the visitors a healthy advantage.
Liverpool’s task of overhauling Barcelona’s sizeable lead has been made even harder with the news that key frontmen, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, will be unavailable for selection due to injury.
Lovren, who was a runner up at last summer’s FIFA World Cup with Croatia in Russia however believes that the tie is far from over and that Liverpool can still upset the odds and qualify.
“It makes me angry," the 29-year-old told Press Association Sport . "Angry and hungry to show them we are capable of doing something special at Anfield.
“We have big players and big players should show in big games and I think this is one of those games on Tuesday so I expect one of the biggest games at Anfield.
“This is why we are Liverpool. This is why we are a unique club. When people already said to us 'They are already done, they will not come through' we always show the balls to produce the biggest comebacks.
“It doesn't look from the result at the moment, because they are 3-0 up, but football is unpredictable – especially in the Champions League at Anfield."
The former Southampton player has played just thirteen Premier League games this season due to fitness issues, while he has also featured three times in the Champions League.
