Lovren: Liverpool Could Go Unbeaten In Premier League
By Joshua Walters
Dejan Lovren has tipped Liverpool to go unbeaten in the 2018/19 Premier League season saying it is possible for Jurgen Klopp’s team to emulate Arsenal’s record of 2004.
Liverpool top the Premier League table with 45 points, one point above defending champions Manchester City after 17 games thus far this term.
The Reds are yet to taste defeat in the league this season as they face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday in a match day-18 tie and the Croatian defender believes his side are on course to repeat Arsenal’s feat in 2004 when they went 38 games without defeat.
"Hopefully we can be unbeaten until the end of the season," said the Croatian centre-back. "Arsenal did it before, so why not?"
Manchester City are among the favorite contenders for the title, but it appears the Citizens have a challenge in Liverpool who ease past the lower clubs with a goal margin of not less than two, and have also grinned results against Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Pep Guardiola’s City have lost just a single game in the campaign, and Lovren admits that the Citizens have a good chance at the title alongside clubs like Tottenham Hotspurs who lies 3rd on the pegging order with 39.
"I'm not sure that they [City] have any weaknesses," he said.
"Last year they won by 19 points. They know how to manage even when they lose. They also lost one or two games last year and still, they managed to be 19 points ahead.”
"It doesn't mean anything. There are so many games in front of us and in front of them. It will be a tight race and it's not only City. Tottenham are only a few points behind.
"You cannot sit and enjoy and say, 'We are five or six points in front of everyone'. It doesn't work like that. Every game for us is a final."
