Jadon Sancho Wins Bundesliga October Player Of The Month
By Joshua Walters
Eighteen-year-old Borussia Dortmund forward, Jadon Sancho, has been named the Bundesliga Player of the Month for October.
The English international beat competition from teammate Achraf Hakimi, Eintracht Frankfurt's pair Sebastien Haller and Luka Jovic, Marcel Halstenberg of RB Leipzig, and Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Jonas Hofmann.
The award is the creation of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga in cooperation with the Bundesliga’s official licensing partner, EA SPORTS FIFA 19.
The decision goes through a two-stage selection process that considers the players' individual performance data and a vote by fans and experts.
Sancho made six appearances from the bench for the Yellow and Blacks in August and September but has transformed into a regular in Lucien Favre’s side by starting in all three Bundesliga games in October.
Sancho started his exploits in the months when he netted two goals in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-2 draw with Hertha Berlin.
The brace made the wing-forward the youngest player in the club's history to notch two goals in a game, and the first player, born in the 21st century, to score a brace in the Deutsche top flight.
Sancho extended his prolific form to VfB Stuttgart as he also bagged Dortmund’s opener in the 4-0 win over the Swabians and assisted Paco Alcacer in the seven-goal thriller against Augsburg.
