Guendouzi: Aubameyang Is Premier League
By Max Wise
Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has lavished praises on teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, labelling the Gabonese forward as the best striker in the Premier League.
Aubameyang, 29, joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund just under a year ago for a club record fee of £56m.
The 2015 African footballer of the year has been in sensational form this season, scoring 13 goals in 19 Premier League appearances, which is the most in the division.
Guendouzi has come in leaps and bounds since joining Arsenal from French Ligue 2 side Lorient at the beginning of the season, making 24 appearances in all competitions and scoring once.
Guendouzi, 19, is clearly enjoying his time at the Emirates Stadium, and the Frenchman has been impressed by the former Saint Etienne forward’s performances for the Gunners this season.
“He’s helping us a lot because he scores so much", Guendouzi told Sky Sports. “For me he is the best striker in the Premier League this season and if he keeps scoring as much in the second half of the season, l know we will finish really high in the table.
“As a midfielder it’s a pleasure to play with someone like this, its easy because he has so many qualities."
“He can run behind, he’s in the box in front of goal but he can also link up play and play with his back to his goal. For a midfielder this is perfect because he offers so many solutions.”
Hotly pursuing Aubameyang for the Premier League golden boot this season are the winners of the award for the last two campaigns; Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah, who are all on 13 goals whiles Chelsea’s Eden Hazard follows closely with 10.
