Nemanja Vidic was born to Dragoljub, a now-retired copper factory worker, and Zora, a bank clerk.
The centre-back joined Manchester United from Spartak Moscow in 2006 and left in 2014 as a club legend, having lightened up the Old Trafford in a solid partnership with Rio Ferdinand.
Vidic won five Premier League titles at Old Trafford, one UEFA Champions League title, and three League Cups.
He became the first defender to win the Premier League Player of the season on two occasions and also appeared in the PFA Team of the Year four times.
At the international level, Vidic played for the Serbia national team from 2002-2011 and made a total of 52 appearances, and retired from football in 2016 after a two-year stay at Inter Milan.
