Everton Set To Sign Andre Gomes After Loan Spell

By Joshua Walters

Everton are reportdely close to the permanent signing of Andre Gomes after agreeing terms with Barcelona according to EFF.

Gomes who spent last season on loan with the Merseyside club will join the side in a transfer worth €25 million plus add-ons.

Gomes had a frustrating term at Barcelona after joining the Catalan giants from Valencia at the start of the 2016/17 season.

Despite enjoying first-team opportunities, the Portuguese failed to impress at the Camp Nou as that led to fans discontent about his performances.

Entering into his third season with Barcelona, Gomes was loaned out to Everton, a season he moved with Colombian defender Jerry Mina.

The former Valencia player featured 27 times for Everton in the Premier League as he recorded just a goal with one assist.

Gomes will be Barcelona’s first player to leave the club in the summer as Thomas Vermaelen and Kevin-Prince Boateng will bring their contracts with the Spanish champions to an end on June 30 - the ofifcial end date for the summer.

And Barcelona, who are not ready to keep hold of the player have accepted €25 million from Everton, a deal many see as a loss, having recruited him in a deal of €55 million although €20 million came as add-ons.

The Premeir League club are exepcted to make an official announcement on the transfer in the coming weeks.

Gomes during his spell with Barcelona made 78 appearances with three goals.
