Di Maria: I Would Join Barcelona Because Of Messi

Di Maria has disclosed if he is to join Barcelona, it will be beacuse of his national team captain, Lionel Messi. 

Di Maria, in his recent interview expressed how he enjoys playing with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and that could make him join him at the club side. 

The former Real Madrid forward hinted he had the chance to play for Barcelona as the deal stalled. 

The Paris Saint-Germain pacey winger stressed his relationship with Real Madrid will not be a barrier for him to join Barcelona when the need arises.

“I love playing with [Messi],” he said

”I love watching him in training, too. The things he does, it’s something unique - it’s impossible to explain.

”I had the chance of going to Barcelona and it did not happen. And the truth is that if I was going to go, it was to be with him, to see him every day.

”When he’s on the ball, I’m a spectator. My relationship with Real Madrid is over because my cycle has ended there. Frankly I would have no problem playing at Barcelona."

Both players are yet to win a trophy for Argentina as they prepare for the Copa America which starts on June 14 and ends on July 7 at the Maracana stadium in Rio.

The La Albiceleste, drawn in Group B, will begin their Copa America campaign against Colombia on June 15 in Salvador before meeting Paraguay and Qatar.
