Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt has disclosed that Cristiano Ronaldo asked him if he would come to Juventus after the UEFA Nations League final.
De Ligt played a part as Netherlands were defeated 1-0 by Portugal at the Estadio do Dragao.
The Ajax captain had an impressive season with the side as they reached the semi-final of the Champions League with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs eliminating them on the away goal rule after a 3-3 aggregate.
His splendid performances at domestic and international scenes have generated a lot of interest from many clubs.
The in-form Dutch defender is expected to make a world record transfer this summer with top European clubs like Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain the possible destinations for him.
With De Ligt yet to make a move away from Ajax, Cristiano Ronaldo has asked the 19-year-old defender if he would be joining the Serie A Champions.
"I didn't understand him at first. I was a little shocked, so I laughed, but I didn't say anything.
"Shortly after the game you are not at all concerned with it, you are disappointed you have lost and that is the only thing you are thinking about.
Despite the links, De Ligt insists he will have to go on a break before a final decision is made on where he will play for next season.
“I will first go on a nice vacation and rest.
"I will let it happen and then I will see."
De Ligt, having played a pivotal role in Ajax's run to the Eredivisie title recorded three goals in thirty-three league games with one assist and three goals in the Champions League.
