David Silva Reveals Man City Attraction
By Joshua Walters
David Silva has recalled what attracted him to join Manchester City from Valencia in 2010, and says he chose the Etihad outfit over several other suitors because they ‘wanted me the most.’
Manchester City reached an agreement with Silva on June 30, 2010, and announced the purchase on July 14, 2010, two years after a bid to sign the Spaniard and his teammate David Villa, was rejected by Valencia.
The World Cup winner has gone on to blossom with the Citizens, scoring 53 Premier League goals in 261 games, and he revealed how former City manager, Roberto Mancini, got him to the club.
“Genuinely, they were the team who wanted me the most and went the extra mile," Silva told FourFourTwo.
"Other teams were interested, but Mancini got in contact a long time before the end of the season to see if I wanted to come here, and say I was a big part of his plans.”
“When someone puts so much effort into demonstrating they want to sign you, you follow your heart. That was the best decision I’ve ever made in football.”
