David Luiz Reveals Why He Wants To Stay At Chelsea
By Joshua Walters
David Luiz has revealed his desire to stay at Chelsea for the foreseeable future though his contract with the Stamford Bridge club expires at the end of the season.
Luiz, who is in his second spell at the Blues, struggled for game time under Antonio Conte last season, but has been one of Maurizio Sarri’s untouchables this campaign.
The 31-year-old Brazilian has featured in all, but one of Chelsea’s 16 Premier League games this season.
Luiz scored his first league goal of the campaign in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Man City at the weekend, helping the Blues to fourth place on the league log with 34 points.
The former Benfica center-back will see his current contract run-out at the end of the season, but hopes to renew it for a further three years despite the club’s insistence on offering players over 30 just one year deals.
"We are still talking, let's see. Let's see what the future brings. I love this club, everybody knows I want to stay."
"I am just trying to enjoy, like every single day, Then, for sure, we will do the best thing for me, for Chelsea, for everybody."
