Chelsea To Tie Down Willian With New Two-Year Deal

Chelsea are on the verge of handing Brazilian winger, Willian, a new two year-deal at the club, predictionboard.com has learnt.

Willian’s current contract will expire at the end of the 2019/20 season, and he will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 2020.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man was heavily courted by Barcelona last summer as Chelsea repeatedly rejected a series of bids from the Spanish champions and the Blaugrana are reportedly ready to test Chelsea’s resolve by resurrecting a deal for the Brazilian.

Chelsea’s transfer ban means they will be unable to sign players until next summer, making them break their club policy of giving players over the age of 30 just one-year extensions.

32-year old David Luiz was recently rewarded with a new two-year deal and Willian, who turns 31 in August will be offered similar terms to his compatriot.

Chelsea recently lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, with manager Maurizio Sarri set to follow the Belgian out of the exit door by taking charge of Italian champions Juventus.

Frank Lampard has been tipped to replace Sarri but Chelsea will have to pay £4m to release him from his contract at Championship side Derby County.

Chelsea stole Willian from the clutches of Tottenham Hotspurs, where he had undergone a medical, for a fee of £30m from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer of 2013.

Willian has won two Premier League titles, one League Cup, one FA Cup and recently added the Europa League to his trophy collection in London.
