Carvajal Wishes Morata Well At Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has sent a goodwill message to Alvaro Morata as the former Real Madrid player nears a loan move from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid.

Carvajal believes Morata is right in deciding to join Atletico Madrid despite the club being the crosstown rivals of the striker’s parent club Real Madrid.

Morata is close to snapping up a loan deal to Diego Simone’s Atletico Madrid, but the move has been met with discontent from some Real Madrid faithfuls who have described it as a betrayal by the player who graduated into Los Blancos first team from the academy ranks.

"They are decisions of each player. I do not judge him," Madrid full-back Carvajal told reporters following Sunday's 4-2 win against Espanyol.

"If he is happy at Atletico, I am happy for him. He is my friend and I wish him the best.”

Morata has had a torrid time at Chelsea, failing to command a starting berth while doing very little to convince the hierarchy to regard his services as a beneficial element to the club.

"I'm happy for him because in England he did not have many opportunities,” continued Carvajal. "We just hope he does not have a good game against us [On February 9]."

Morata left Madrid in 2017 for Juventus due to lack of playing opportunity and blossomed with the Italian giants to earn a recall back to Los Blancos in the 2016/17 season.

Morata’s again failed to secure a permanent slot in the side despite arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu with lots of prospects and expectations and was shipped out to Chelsea on a permanent sale last season.

The Spaniard forward has since featured 47 Premier League games for Chelsea and scored 16 times with six assists, a run that has led the club to bring in Gonzalo Higuain as his replacement.
