Carvajal Out For A Month Due To Thigh Injury
By Joshua Walters
Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal will be out for one month following a rupture in his right thigh in the side's Champions League home defeat to Ajax on Tuesday.
Real Madrid were surprisingly ousted from the Champions League on Tuesday when Ajax overturned a 2-1 home loss with a 4-1 away win at the Bernabeu, and Los Blancos suffered a double whammy on the day as Carvajal also sustained a thigh injury in the game.
Reports in the Spanish media claim that medical checks have revealed that Carvajal has suffered a 'grade two rupture in his right thigh' and would be on the sidelines for up to two months.
The Spanish defender's injury has shot up Real Madrid's injury list, which also has Vinicius Junior, who was forced out of the same game.
Carvajal, 27, would miss Real Madrid’s trip to Valladolid and the home games against Real Betis and Huesca as well as away ties with Valencia and Eibar.
The right-back would also miss Spain’s international friendly games with Norway and Malta this month.
Carvajal, who graduated from the Real Madrid youth ranks, joined the German outfit Bayern Leverkusen for €5 million after failing to penetrate into Los Blancos' first-team.
The right-back reunited with Real Madrid for €6.5 million after the Bernabeu outfit activated a buy-back clause included in the agreement with Leverkusen.
The Champions League winner has played eight Champions League games and four Copa del Ray fixtures, and provided one assist in seventeen matches and scored a goal in the Spanish LaLiga.
