Having distinguished himself on the football pitch as a footballer, Brazil’s Ronaldo Nazario is venturing into football management and starts with the acquisition of Valladolid.
The former Inter Milan, AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid striker, was announced as the new majority shareholder of the Spanish La Liga side at a press conference on Monday.
Brazil’s all-time top scorer bought the 51 percent shares, formerly held by club president, Carlos Suarez, for a reported fee of €30m.
Ronaldo told the press he would develop the club as far as his enthusiasm would permit him, as he called on the fans for support.
“We want to grow up with our illusion”, said the 42-year old football icon and 2-time World Cup winner. "Let us try to be as big as possible”.
This new management will be defined by four words: competitiveness, transparency, revolution and social. We will have the friend Carlos Suarez and the workers in recent times".
"Count on us to make Real Valladolid consolidate in the first and keep building illusions. With the unity among all, I am convinced that it will be very difficult not to win."
"I want everyone to form this Club and I invite the fans to participate in this project, give us ideas, opinions, criticism, and hopes, I want you to be part of the present and the future of Real Valladolid."
