Belgium Boss Tasks Lukaku To Find New Club

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku had been advised to find a new club by his national team boss Roberto Martinez.

Lukaku has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford with former Chelsea coach, Antonio Conte, who has recently taken over as manager of Inter Milan, interested in taking him to the San Siro.

Conte courted Lukaku during the Belgian’s time at Everton but a deal to sign him for Chelsea fell through as Jose Mourinho priced him to Old Trafford for £75m instead.

Mourinho’s departure as Manchester United manager in December last year restricted Lukaku’s first team opportunities as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer favoured Marcus Rashford as his arrow head in attack after taking over as manager.

Roberto Martinez knows all about Lukaku, having signed him for £28m from Chelsea during his time as Everton manager and has also overseen a prolific period for the bulky striker in national team colours.

Lukaku scored 27 goals in his first season at Manchester United but only found the back of the net 15 times from 45 appearances last season, leaving his national team boss alarmed at the considerable drop in his scoring rate.

"It is clear that he has to leave Manchester United," Martinez told Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws.

"It would be a good thing for both parties. It is now important that Romelu finds the right club."

Lukaku has previously welcomed the prospect of playing in the Italian Serie A, and with Inter’s reported interest, Manchester United will be looking to recoup most of the £75m they paid for the former Anderlecht youngster.
