Bartomeu: Neymar Won

Bartomeu: Neymar Won

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu has dismissed the chances of Neymar Jnr returning to the Camp Nou, saying that the club is not interested in bringing back the Brazilian.

Bartomeu told El Matí de Catalunya Ràdio on Monday, Neymar would not return to Barcelona because the club has no such plans.

The Brazilian ace joined PSG in 2017, much to the displeasure of the Catalan club’s hierarchy, when the French side triggered his buyout clause of €222 million after four seasons at the Camp Nou.

Neymar Jnr has been linked with a move back to Barcelona, but Bartomeu insisted that the 26-year-old talented offensive player has no future at the club.

“Neymar left and is not expected to return to Barca, besides there are no plans to bring him back,” Bartomeu said.

The Barcelona chief also confirmed that Ernesto Valverde's squad would see no additions in the January transfer window since they want to give the spaces in the team to their youth players.

“No one is scheduled to be signed in January unless we are told something that would see a change in plans."

“This is a smaller squad because there are B players who have given strong signals that they can be on the first team."
