Pulisic Admits Concern Over Chelsea Bench Role

Christian Pulisic has admitted his frustration over a lack of playing time at Chelsea so far this season.

Pulisic Admits Concern Over Chelsea Bench Role

The 21-year-old American arrived at Stamford Bridge in a £58m deal from Borussia Dortmund in the summer but has so far played a bit-part role in Frank Lampard’s plans.

Pulisic has fallen behind the likes of Mason Mount, Pedro, Willian and Ross Barkley in the pecking order, and with Callum Hudson-Odoi returning to full fitness, competition for places has become tighter than ever.

For the third consecutive Premier League game running Pulisic was named among the substitutes but failed to make it onto the pitch as Chelsea recorded their first home win of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

“It is very frustrating,” Pulisic told NBC Sport. “But I will continue to work my hardest because I want to play.

“He (Lampard) said to keep working and I have to improve myself in training and try to get back in the line-up.

“The city is great, I’ve enjoyed it. It has been good but it has been a change.

“There are going to be challenges, I knew it was going to be tough coming here.

“It is never going to be easy. I’ve got to grind out. I want to be back and be a part of the team and help the team win games.”

Chelsea’s win on Saturday has taken them to sixth on the league log, with 11 points from their seven games so far.

The Blues are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to France to play Lille in the UEFA Champions League.
